Upcher & Co
History

Upcher & Co. is a family firm.  The name derives from Thomas Upcher, whose family home at Sheringham Hall, Norfolk lies within the National Trust grounds of Sheringham Park, two miles southwest of the coastal town of Sheringham.

Thomas improved the diversity of the estate’s magnificent Rhododendron collection and was a keen gardener and philanthropist.  His name lives on in our business.

One of Upcher & Co’s two directors, Anthony Johnson, lived at Sheringham Hall for 20 years. Following the death of Thomas Upcher in 1985, he fulfilled Thomas’s wishes of passing the estate to the National Trust in 1986.

For details of how to visit Sheringham Park, information is available at https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/norfolk/sheringham-park.
